Big Care for Your Small Herd
Servicing the Goulburn, Southern Highlands and Capital region
👋 About Us
I believe small farms deserve as much support as the big guys. Whether you've got a few sheep to mow the grass, a house cow for milk, or you're building the ultimate self-sustaining homestead, I want to help your animals be as healthy as possible.
How can I help?
Feed outs and farm checks
Away for the day or off on holiday? I’ll handle hay feed outs, water top-ups, and animal checks — plus fences, troughs, and general wellbeing. One-off or regular visits, with care you can count on.
Vaccinations
Keeping your animals protected doesn’t have to be a hassle. I offer low stress, on-farm vaccinations for sheep, goats, alpacas and more — done safely, efficiently, and with the right gear for the job.
Marking and weaning
Tagging, castrating, vaccinating and separating mobs; it’s a lot! I use low-stress handling and pain-minimising methods to get the job done calmly, safely, and with care for both animals and owners.
Parasite prevention + treatment
Parasites can sneak up fast and do real damage. I offer support at every stage, from faecal egg counts and routine drenching to treating active infestations. Internal or external, I’ve got the tools and know-how to keep your animals healthy.
Shearing + Crutching
Shearing and crutching play a vital role in keeping sheep and alpacas healthy, clean, and comfortable. My fully mobile, battery-operated setup means I can come to you and get the job done efficiently, no matter your setup.
Advice and Support
Feeling stuck in the mud? I’ve got your back. Wherever you are on your farming journey, I’m here to offer guidance, practical advice, and a helping hand, whether you need to learn the ropes or tackle a tricky situation.
Who am I?
I’m Nat, and I’ve dedicated my life to understanding animals. I hold a Bachelor of Natural Science (Animal Science)/Bachelor of Science (Zoology), and I've worked in the animal industry for over 10 years.
With experience in animal health, welfare, and husbandry, I specialise in supporting small-scale and hobby farmers who often face unique challenges. My skills range from drenching and vaccinating to managing complex care in demanding situations.
I started The Hobby Farm Hand because I saw many hobby farmers feeling overwhelmed and alone. I’m here to provide professional, compassionate care that treats your animals as the loved family members they are.
When I’m not helping others, I’m with my two dogs, a bossy cat, exhibition chickens and ducks, and whatever else happens to wander through the gate. I'm passionate about continuing education and look forward to the journey ahead for The Hobby Farm Hand.
